Syntegon 18.02.26

Syntegon has launched its AIM9 inspection platform, said to combine visual inspection and leak detection with outputs of up to 600 vials per minute, aiming to help pharmaceutical manufacturers and CMOs achieve the ‘highest’ inspection and product quality.

The company says the AIM9 features enhanced flexibility to tackle the challenge of handling multiple container sizes and products. The platform is designed to accommodate vial sizes from 2 to 250 milliliters for easy changeovers and fast adaptation for new products.

Syntegon adds that the platform has fully integrated Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT), offering headspace gas analysis, high‑voltage leak detection or both, without the need for additional equipment.

In addition to the visual inspection technologies for detecting particles and cosmetic defects, the AIM9 includes Syntegon’s patented SD technology, area and line-scan cameras. Customers can opt for deep learning integration or the bubble masking tool, which distinguishes harmless bubbles from harmful defects.

The platform’s transport system is said to ensure ‘safe and stable’ container handling throughout the inspection process. AIM9 is available in several variants based on a standardized platform.

In other news, Antares Vision Group collaborated with Oròbix last summer to create AI-GO, an artificial intelligence-driven visual inspection platform developed to meet growing needs for faster, more accurate and adaptable inspection processes. Apparently, AI-GO can consistently identify complex anomalies such as chromatic impurities, glass fragments, cosmetic defects or foreign bodies.

The following month, Canapa Solutions by Paxiom announced its Vision360 automated inspection system specifically for pre-rolls, said to reduce manual labour and improve throughput. The system provides real-time inspection of a pre-roll’s filter, body, and twist, designed to automatically detect flaws including colour, irregular lengths, tears, cuts, depth inconsistencies, and other imperfections.
