Mondi and Pacapime Hungary

Mondi has teamed up with Pacapime Hungary to provide high-quality corrugated packaging for delivering fresh produce to its customers in Central and Western Europe.

Pacapime Hungary supplies its customers in Hungary, Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Western Europe with fresh produce boxes for apples, pears, tomatoes and bell peppers. Mondi’s packaging is said to meet the requirements for reliable strength, durability and effective ventilation to protect produce during transport while maintaining attractive presentation at retail.

Mondi says its ProVantage SmartKraft Brown containerboard grade features a 100% fresh fibre top ply, ensuring high surface integrity and consistent quality. It also has reliable burst and tear resistance and consistent processing properties which enable efficient production.

The two companies state the collaboration is built on a long-term partnership including close technical cooperation and on-site containerboard support. Joint trials, data-driven optimization and continuous knowledge exchange help ensure paper choice and packaging solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with evolving customer requirements.

Last October, Mondi developed a banana box packaging solution said to be 10% lighter than a previous solution, while being made with roughly 40% recycled fibre. The box is the result of a collaboration between Mondi, trading partner Europcell, Ecuadorian banana exporter Incarpalm and a leading European importer.

The same month, Mondi collaborated with Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable exporter Özler Tarım on a corrugated fibre solution aiming to reduce food waste, protect products and optimize operational processes. The packaging features a double-wall corrugated fibre structure and a flat-stackable design.
