German beer brand Bitburger has launched a new series of collectable, limited-edition cans to coincide with Germany’s appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Bitburger’s renewed partnership with the German Football Association (DFB) is being supported by independent brand design agency Derek&Eric, in a bid to tap into the passion, pride and nostalgia many Germans feel every four years when the football World Cup occurs.
The partners involved in this project aimed for a visual style that would feel both nostalgic and contemporary, with the aim of conveying the sense of memory and optimism that epitomises the feeling of following a national side at a world tournament.
The use of white is consistent across Bitburger’s visual identity and Germany’s famous home kits, while the top of the cans features an allusion to the iconic Schwarz-Rot-Gold collar featured on the shirt.

The central message of the campaign is “Here’s to Number 5”, which commemorates Germany’s four world titles, while looking ahead to the possibility of a fifth one at this year’s event. Die Mannschaft is currently ranked joint second with Italy in terms of overall World Cup titles – one more would move it to joint first place alongside Brazil.
Alex Stewart, Co-Founder at Derek&Eric, comments: “For German fans, every star tells a story. We wanted to celebrate those moments in a way that felt authentic, collectable and unmistakably Bitburger. By drawing inspiration from the iconic kits of past triumphs, we created a series that honours football heritage while looking forward to the possibility of a fifth star.”
The limited-edition cans are available across Germany throughout the tournament period.
At the 2026 World Cup, Germany’s first challenge will be to top Group E, where it has a relatively easy run against Curaçao, Ecuador and Ivory Coast. A stronger challenge may occur in the round of 16 however, where there is a good possibility that Germany could face France, who are one of the overall tournament favourites.
