TricorBraun

TricorBraun has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire rigid packaging distributors Euroglas and Glaspack, aiming to expand its packaging footprint in the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

German-based Euroglas provides stock and custom glass packaging for the food, beverage, and spirits sectors. Glaspack provides stock and custom packaging for the wine, beer, and food sectors and supplies wine packaging for the Austrian market.

All Euroglas and Glaspack team members will remain with TricorBraun and continue to work out of the companies’ existing locations. Effective upon the close of the transaction, Euroglas will be known as Euroglas, a TricorBraun company, and Glaspack will be known as Glaspack, a TricorBraun company.

“Euroglas and Glaspack are known for their quality, innovation, and customer service, and they’ve built longstanding businesses with impressive reputations,” said Mark O’Bryan, COO of TricorBraun. “Combining Euroglas’ and Glaspack’s expertise in key end markets with TricorBraun’s own supply chain and regional penetration will provide new opportunities to support our customers’ growth in Europe.”

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, subject to having received the required regulatory approvals.

In related news, Ardagh Glass Packaging Europe agreed to purchase glass recycler Svensk Glasåtervinning in 2024, aiming to secure its supply of high-quality glass cullet. The company also sought to prevent exports from taking recyclate out of Sweden.

In October last year, whisky company Chivas Regal unveiled its redesigned Chivas Regal 18 bottle with a 25% glass weight reduction and a fully recyclable carton. The company stated its flagship 70cl bottle’s reduction in glass weight was expected to save over 500 tonnes of glass annually, based on FY24 volume sales.
