Parkside has expanded its portfolio of lidding film solutions, including recyclable and compostable films designed for food brands, packers, and processors.
The range includes Popflex, the company’s monopolymer lidding film with laser-scored easy-opening, said to be suitable for recycling when weld-sealed to a matching PET tray. It also includes recyclable re-closeable films and a range of monopolymer, compostable, paper, and standard polymer films that can be used for ‘almost any application’.
Parkside will be presenting its film solutions as part of ProSeal’s stand at this year’s Fruit Logistica showcase, held on the 5th-7th February in Berlin. Its materials will be used to demonstrate ProSeal’s tray sealing capabilities at Hall 1.1, Stand C-20.
“No two packaging projects are ever the same,” said Ian McManus, Sales Account Manager at Parkside, “which means each application requires a tailored approach that considers all of a product and customer’s needs.
“Our lidding film portfolio is unmatched in its size and scope, meaning customers can tailor their packaging until every detail is right for them. Whether a customer wants high barrier properties, easy-open functionality, recyclability, print quality, or a balanced combination of the above, we can deliver,” he adds.
In similar news, Innovia Films announced its new white ‘ultra-low density’ film last July, specifically engineered for ice cream flow wrap packaging. Under suitable storage conditions, Innovia said the film could be stored for a period of 6 months without any risk of deterioration.
The same month, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) revealed plans to investigate the safety of recycled PE and PP film for use in food contact applications through the new ‘Flex Forward’ research project, in collaboration with 11 industrial partners. WRU stated that project researchers would investigate a specific method of removing contaminants: dissolution (solvent-based recycling).
