Novelis and Meadow

Meadow has announced a partnership with aluminium solutions provider Novelis - due to become one of the company’s supply chain partners - aiming to increase the recycled material used in Meadow’s aluminium pre-fill solution.

The agreement seeks to increase the recycled material used in the production of Meadow’s aluminium pre-fill solution, the Meadow Kapsul, creating a ‘circular, more sustainable’ product for the global consumer packaging market. Novelis joins Ball Corporation, DRT Holdings and C-CARE as supply chain partner for Meadow, with the company hoping to deliver its aluminium prefill solution at scale.

Meadow CEO and co-founder Victor Ljungberg comments: “A world leader in aluminium recycling and rolling, Novelis brings not only deep industrial expertise, but the scale and reliability needed to support our continued commercial growth. Crucially, it strengthens the sustainability of our value chain, creating one of the most circular packaging solutions available today, and brings us closer to our end goal of eliminating linear packaging.”

Novelis Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, Greg Schlicht, adds: “We are proud to work with Meadow to deliver a sustainable packaging option for consumer household products across the globe. Meadow’s focus on reducing waste and improving circularity aligns perfectly with our vision to advance aluminium as the material of choice with circular solutions.”

In January, Ball Corporation announced a minority investment in Meadow to support the production of fully recyclable aluminium cans as pre-filled cartridges for personal and home care products. Ball seeks to provide a global network of facilities and multi-market reach for the company’s Meadow Kapsul solution.

More recently, Ball Brazil and Açai Motion collaborated on a new beverage can certified by the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI), said to ensure the aluminium used in production adheres to ‘ethical and sustainable practices’ from raw material extraction to recycling. The new can features Ball’s internal coating technology, designed to extend the beverage’s shelf life and safeguard its flavour and nutritional integrity.
