At interpack 2026, Hugo Beck has revealed a new paper sleeve wrapper for transport and secondary packaging – developed in collaboration with Mondi to avoid plastic shrink film and excessive cardboard.
The Paper S sleeve wrapper is designed to apply a tight, uncoated kraft paper wrap to products, with or without a tray. Utilizing overlap and optimized hot-melt gluing, the machine creates bundles for secure transport and handling while replacing shrink film and cardboard systems.
It can be operated as a standalone solution or installed inline within existing production lines, with a compact design set to benefit production sites with limited floor space. The machine is also intended to be maintenance-friendly.
Additionally, the Paper S is expected to unlock cost and energy savings compared to heat-based shrink-wrapping processes. Optional add-ons such as digital printing units, labelling systems, and additional automation components are available to fit specific customer requirements.
Altogether, the system is anticipated to help various industries, including FMCG producers and retail-ready packaging operators, reduce material consumption in their transport packaging without sacrificing product protection or operational efficiency.
On the show floor, Hugo Beck is running the Paper S with Mondi’s 70 gsm Ad/Vantage StretchWrap paper – a previous finalist for a Sustainability Award. This kraft paper is low in weight and designed to unlock high puncture resistance, tensile energy absorption, and stretch characteristics – all while remaining industrially compostable and recyclable in conventional paper streams.
Hugo Beck and Mondi have worked together to ensure that the machine technology is compatible with the paper substrate.
“This introduction of the Paper S in close collaboration with Mondi as a holistic solution represents a logical next step in our sustainable packaging strategy,” said Jonas Beck, managing director at Hugo Beck. “It builds on our continuous development of paper packaging technologies over recent years.
“Following the launch of the Paper X series targeting multiple industries together with dedicated e-commerce packaging solutions, we have steadily expanded our sustainable offering alongside our established film-based solutions.
“Our aim is always to support our clients to meet evolving market and regulatory demands in terms of increased sustainability. With the Paper S sleeve wrapper we are offering a practical solution for reducing plastic usage and minimizing cardboard consumption in transport packaging while maintaining the reliability and performance our clients expect from our technology.”
interpack attendees are invited to view live demonstrations of the Paper S at Hugo Beck’s stand (Hall 11, Stand A74) and discuss the company’s machine portfolio with on-site experts.
Elsewhere at the event, GEA presents its PowerPak 5000 thermoforming packaging machine for medium-sized food producers. The model is expected to achieve easy operation, repeatable output, and predictable lifecycle costs.
Körber is also unveiling a fully automatic inspection machine and stickpack line at interpack. Both solutions are designed to address challenges such as increasing product diversity, smaller batch sizes and high-quality requirements.
