Coveris Dr Beckmann

Coveris has unveiled its mono-material sleeve solution developed for Dr Beckmann, said to use around 30% less material than conventional shrink sleeves and help address current and evolving regulatory requirements.

The sleeve solution was created for the launch of Dr Beckmann’s first liquid fabric softener in France, with the project progressing from project to launch in six months. Dr Beckmann required a packaging solution that combined premium shelf appeal with sustainability.

Coveris says its packaging for Dr. Beckmann’s Quick Wash Fabric Softener was developed and implemented through close cooperation, reliable execution and dedicated on-site support. The company utilized its SleeveFlex Ultra Stretch, an elastic stretch sleeve made from mono-material LDPE film suitable for PET bottles and HDPE containers.

Coveris adds that its floatable design supports bottle-to-bottle PET recycling and creates a fully mono-material PE packaging solution on HDPE, aiming to help brands meet current and future Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) requirements.

Compared to conventional shrink sleeves, Coveris states its solution eliminates the need for a steam tunnel and saves approximately 150 kilograms of steam per hour. It also does not require temperature-controlled transport or special storage conditions, apparently reducing total operating costs by up to 50%.

In other sleeve packaging news, in June Prism eLogistics revealed a fully recyclable sleeve for kefir brand Bio&Me, said to be the ‘first of its kind’ in the dairy category. Prism’s solution utilizes EcoFloat shrink sleeving, which the company says is specifically engineered to improve the sink/float separation process and can be recycled through established PP recycling streams.

OMG Bubble Tea has just adopted Greiner Packaging’s K3 cups for its ready-to-drink, on-the-go beverages, complete with a separable cardboard sleeve and tear tab. The cup itself is made from polypropylene and EVOH, set to maintain the essential barrier properties and protect a drink throughout its shelf life.
