KM Packaging has launched two new KPeel Ambtort lidding films, to meet the complex needs of the pet food market.

Part of the KPeel range, the two films are designed to withstand the high temperatures of up to 123 degrees Celsius (253 Fahrenheit) used in retort sterilisation, helping to extend the shelf-life of ambient pet food products. This enables pet food manufacturers to move from a traditional tin can to a lighter-weight tray and lid solution without compromising on product shelf-life.  Charles Smithson, KM Packaging Managing Director, said: “Switching from a tin can to tray and lid solution offers pet food manufacturers numerous benefits, including a lower packaging to product ratio, enhanced end user experience and huge potential savings in transport, warehousing and handling costs. Adding the two Ambtort solutions to our KPeel range enables us to deliver the high-performance peel and extended shelf-life required in the pet food market. Providing effective and reliable seal performance, these two latest additions are ideal for any manufacturer looking to make the switch.”

KPeel Ambtort PPs 85 is a leading-edge transparent triplex laminate film with high barrier properties. Sealing to PP and PP lacquered foil trays, it delivers a strong, smooth peel. KPeel Ambtort AL 91 features an aluminium foil layer, providing the best possible barrier in terms of water vapour and oxygen transmission rates. Both films can be used for ambient or chilled applications and are suitable for printing, delivering enhanced branding opportunities and product presentation.
