
Huel is using Greiner Packaging’s K3 cups with a separable cardboard wrap for its High Protein Ramen Noodle Cups, aiming to reduce plastic consumption and unlock a convenient meal format for busy lifestyles.
The K3 cup comprises a plastic container and a detachable cardboard wrap – helping consumers recycle each component in the appropriate waste stream.
For Huel, the format is expected to reduce the amount of plastic used in the overall pack, since the stability of the cardboard wrap allows the container to utilize thinner walls than standard printing plastic cups.
It is also expected to provide thermal insulation for a hot meal application, allowing consumers to prepare and eat their ramen directly from the pack.
Huel’s ‘premium’ printed cardboard wrap features vibrant colours, high-quality printing, and UV spot varnish. This is anticipated to capture the brand’s identity and differentiate the product on the shelf while providing additional space for consumer information and preparation instructions.

The High Protein Ramen range will launch exclusively in Tesco stores across the UK.
OMG Bubble Tea is also making use of the K3 cup to maximize its shelf appeal, stand out next to market competitors, and maintain the intended consumer experience while integrating directly into the existing packaging and production concept.
In other news, Prism eLogistics recently revealed a fully recyclable sleeve for kefir brand Bio&Me. It utilizes EcoFloat shrink sleeving, which is specifically engineered to improve the sink/float separation process and enables the whole pack to be recycled through established polypropylene recycling streams.
