
Sidel has announced its Cermex RoboSELEX bottle collating system for case packers, said to have a high-speed performance of up to 320 products per minute and offer ‘unlimited’ lightweight bottle shapes and batch configurations.
The solution is designed to support manufacturers in the food, home and personal care segments and address growing trends towards lightweight packaging. Sidel says the case packer is capable of handling complex bottle shapes such as conical, asymmetrical and small-base designs while maintaining continuous stable product flow, smooth changeovers and long-term production agility.
Cermex RoboSELEX builds on a comb-collating device mounted upon a robotic arm and uses two Delta robots to deliver a continuous motion process without accumulation, aiming to reduce friction and eliminate shocks, scratches and product jamming. The system is capable of lighweight bottle designs and batch configurations ranging from small (3 × 1) to large (8 × 6) case counts, depending on product size.
Sidel adds that ‘smooth and precise’ handling allows the removal of pucks, even for unstable or complex bottle shapes. Engineered for fast and repeatable changeovers, Cermex RoboSELEX’s mechanical concept reduced the number of parts involved, enabling changeovers without intensive operator training.
According to the company, when shifting formats only the comb mounted on the robot needs to be replaced, using a quick-release system and without additional mechanical adjustments. Sidel says that as the comb is the only format-specific part, it supports faster time-to-market for new product launches by shortening tooling design and manufacturing timelines.
In similar news, Sitma launched its FlatPack automated paper-based wrapping solution for furniture panels last month, designed as a primary packaging system to replace plastic packaging in industrial production environments. Apparently, the inward-folded wrapping allows for optimized palletization, improving space utilization and handling stability.
More recently, FlexLink released RC20: a compact, standardized collaborative palletizing cell designed to handle heavier cases and high-throughput applications in food, pharmaceuticals, and more. The cell offers a maximum pallet height of 2.4 meters, with a throughput of up to six boxes per minute or twelve with double pick.
