Heidelberg has launched its Compact Pallet Loader (CPL) and Compact Bender for computer-to-plate (CtP) processing, designed to be integrated into a single CtP line and said to ensure fully automated, contact-free plate handling.
In conjunction with the Suprasetter 106/A106 platesetter models, Heidelberg says the CPL has a small footprint and covers all Suprasetter performance classes. Integration into the Prinect workflow means the CPL supplies the CtP system with printing plates fully autonomously, in line with the job structure.
At the end of the process, the Compact Bender plate bending system concludes the fully automated processing of the offset plates. When combined with an optional barcode recognition function, the system can supply the plates required for the printing process – pre-sorted according to printing press, job, and plate set – without any manual intervention.
According to Heidelberg, the Compact Pallet Loader can image 1,200 printing plates in the size range 650 x 750 to 1,050 x 1,200 millimeters in non-stop operation, pallet by pallet. Suprasetter 106/A106 models manufactured from 2017 onward can be retrofitted with a CPL.
In related news, Ranpak has integrated PaperWrap’s pallet wrapping machines, which replace plastic stretch film with a kraft paper alternative from Mondi, into its portfolio – aspiring to enhance efficiency and lower greenhouse gas emissions in transit. The machinery fits ‘seamlessly’ into customers’ existing operations including warehouse layout, ergonomics, and throughput demands, with European customers such as IKEA said to have adopted these solutions previously.
Last month Signode introduced its Octopus Prestige stretch wrapper, designed for high-volume operations and said to combine ‘record-breaking’ speed with improved reliability for end-of-line packaging. The new wrapper features top down service access, enabling all maintenance to be performed efficiently at floor level, and simplified mechanics with fewer sensors and adjustments for improved uptime.
