Zeus Packaging has unveiled the Apollo Pallet Wrapping System, reportedly designed to reduce plastic consumption by up to 60%, save time, cut costs, and significantly reduce businesses’ carbon footprint and Scope 3 emissions.
The company says the new system also aims to digitally empower businesses with real-time data on wrap usage, enabling informed decisions and optimized operations. Combining nano technology films manufactured by Zeus and a global agreement with Noxon on custom fit pallet wrapping machinery, fitted specific data collection sensors incorporated into the machinery provide real-time data into the Apollo monitoring software.
Zeus adds that Apollo is designed to maximize wrapping efficiency and minimize waste, with its nano stretch film ‘proven to increase stretch up to 300%’.
The system comprises of the machinery, ‘user-friendly’ software and Zeus-manufactured performance films.
The system also seeks to improve holding force stability, mitigating collapsing pallets. According to Zeus, Apollo allows businesses to monitor key metrics including film net weight per pallet, real stretch wrap per pallet, meters used per pallet, pallets wrapped per roll, and the number of pallets produced during any requested period.
Keith Ockenden, CEO of Zeus Packaging Group, said: “by focusing on the true cost per pallet, we’re helping businesses balance cost-efficiency with environmental stewardship. The system was originally designed to highlight ‘cheating’ that has gone on within our industry with businesses selling film by the kilo. The Apollo Pallet Wrapping System delivers 24/7 monitoring and enables date targeted continuous improvement.”
In related news, BW Flexible Systems launched the SYMACH 3500S palletizer last year, said to deliver high-speed stacking and palletizing performance for bags, bales, crates and cases. The 3500S has a stacking cage which contains bags within the specified dimensions, hoping to reduce and prevent product overhang for a sturdier and more stable pallet.
The following month BEUMER Group announced it would be displaying its latest ‘maintenance-friendly’ stretch hood technology at FACHPACK 2024, compatible with films containing recycled content. The technology targeted improved safety, efficiency, and ergonomic performance.
