International Paper’s corrugated packaging business in Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA) recently brought home a collection of prestigious innovation and design awards for its corrugated box solutions, including a WorldStar of Packaging.
From the EConTrayTM packaging and the Pipikat® cat litterbox, to the V50 package and a display box, each was designed to address the specific needs and challenges of International Paper’s customers.

EConTrayTM (Designed in Italy) - 2017 CONAI Eco-Friendly Packaging Award
An eco-sustainable solution that significantly improves the logistics of packaging and shipping white meat, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. The use of EC combined flutes offers more internal volume and less weight, resulting in more flat-trays per pallet, optimized warehouse storage and faster internal handling.
· CONAI Eco-Friendly Packaging Award: Presented by Italy’s National Packaging Consortium, the award recognizes the country’s most innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions.
PipiKat® Box (Designed in Spain) – 2017 Liderpack Award & 2018 WorldStar of Packaging Award
A disposable and recyclable cat litter box that incorporates a water-resistant liner and comes equipped with absorbent clay. The compact design is easily unfolded to form a hut-style litter tray, giving the cat privacy to go about its business. Once the clay is fully used, the box can be collapsed and disposed of.
2017 Liderpack Award: Spain’s leading display packaging awards recognize the most innovative, customer-focused packaging solutions.
2018 WorldStar of Packaging Award: Organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO), the awards are the pre-eminent international award in packaging.
V50 Citrus Box (Designed in Turkey) – 2017 Good Design Award
The package’s 50 air vents and air corridors provide optimal ventilation for the long-distance transportation of lemons and mandarin oranges, ensuring that the fruit is delivered fresh. Its enhanced cushioning feature helps extend the products’ shelf-life. After use, the entire package can be recycled.
2017 Good Design Award (packaging and fast-moving consumer products category):
Awarded during the Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards, International Paper is the only corrugated packaging company among the winners.
Box ‘Bel’ (Designed in France) – 2017 Gold FlexoStar
This unique, high-definition printed display box is produced at the company’s Chalon plant using a new, high-quality printing converting line that can print up to five colors and varnish.
FlexoStar Award (corrugated board flexo printing on coated paper category): Awarded by the French Technical Association of Flexography (ATF), the annual award showcases France’s best flexo prints.
