Forewood

Sensoplast has revealed it has acquired all assets of Forewood including its wood and plant-based products, aiming to deliver closures and packaging solutions for the lifestyle, cosmetics and food industries based on renewable raw materials without the use of conventional polymers.

Sensoplast says that Forewood’s products do not contain any conventional plastics and offer ‘excellent’ stability, toughness and barrier properties. The company adds that the bio-polymer based solutions also have aesthetic appeal, combining sustainable and high-quality attractive design.

Apparently, Forewood’s closure solutions have been used for several years in branded consumer goods, available through distributors under real-world market conditions. In addition to its established products, Sensoplast states that the acquisition also offers a wide range of customized development and adaptation options to meet specific customer requirements.

In related news, PulPac, PA Consulting and Optima have teamed up to develop a new generation of ‘plastic-like’ Dry Molded Fiber caps, designed to replace conventional plastic caps and unlock new branding opportunities. According to early testing, the caps perform well across parameters such as thread engagement, opening and closing functionality and tactile experience.

Last month Blue Ocean Closures unveiled its new Paper-Plug range of integrated fibre-based opening and dispensing concepts, combining an internal fibre screw closure with a direct interface to carton and corrugated board structures. Potential application areas include dry and frozen foods and ingredients, cleaning products, refill and reuse systems and cartons and hybrid board formats.
