Sabert Corporation Europe’s latest fibre-based cutlery range is certified compostable, designed for recyclability, and believed to improve durability and grip in challenging food applications.
The size and shape of the cutlery have been refined, including a redesigned profile, reinforced tines, and strengthened neck performance.
These changes are expected to result in a better user experience by improving handling and economics, unlocking comfortable and balanced grip during use, and ensuring compatibility with more demanding food types.
At the same time, the cutlery is both TÜV OK Compost Home certified and recyclable where suitable collection systems exist.
Enhancements to its manufacturing process are also believed to improve material efficiency.
This latest generation of Sabert Corporation Europe’s cutlery range is said to build on the company’s ongoing investment in product development and deliver a more reliable solution for foodservice operators and consumers.
The cutlery is recommended for use in takeaway, catering, workplace dining, and food-to-go applications.
“We’re proud to introduce the latest evolution of our paper cutlery range,” says Kévin Fidalgo, Product & Innovations manager at Sabert Corporation Europe.
“Customers are no longer willing to compromise between sustainability goals and product performance. This latest development delivers a stronger, smoother and more comfortable eating experience, helping operators meet evolving customer expectations.
“With this latest innovation, we’re delivering a paper cutlery solution that combines strength, comfort and functionality. The result is a product that feels better in the hand, performs more reliably during use and responds to the growing demand for high quality fibre-based alternatives.”
“Continuous improvement is an important part of our product development approach,” adds Isabelle Ernotte, Quality, Environment, Health & Safety manager at Sabert Corporation Europe.
“We’ve further optimized our manufacturing process and a proportion of production waste is reintroduced into the pulping process at our manufacturing site. This supports efficient use of materials while maintaining the high quality standards our customers expect.”
The news comes after Sabert Corporation Europe launched its PULPUltra food packaging solution earlier this year. Made from over 95% bagasse fibres, the solution is designed for fresh ready-to-eat dishes and hot foods, and can be used in microwaves, conventional ovens, MerryChef applications, and freezers.
In other news, Finnish start-up Fiberdom previously secured €3.5 million in funding to develop and scale its patented technology that transforms market pulp and paperboard into a 100% plastic-free, recyclable and home-compostable material.
Reportedly, Fiberdom has successfully commercialized single-use cutlery that complies with the EU’s Single-Use Plastics Directive, currently available through Finnish retailers and B2B channels.
