Sabert Corporation Europe has upgraded its Deli2Go range with a recyclable rPET lid for product visibility, on-shelf presentation, and end-of-life recyclability.
Deli2Go is a freezer-safe solution designed to store and transport chilled foods and side dishes in catering and foodservice applications. Sabert recommends its use in grab-and-go food selections at supermarkets, in-store food corners, and petrol stations, storing pre-prepared takeaway meals like pasta dishes and salads.
Available in 125ml, 250ml, and 375ml formats, the patented bases are made from FSC-certified and recyclable kraft paper. Each offers grease resistance and full printability for customizable branding.
The bases are stackable, nestable, and use the same lid-clipping technology as Sabert’s Tray2Go range, which is also designed for chilled food-to-go.
Meanwhile, Deli2Go’s rPET lid keeps all three base sizes securely sealed. It is described as ‘crystal-clear’ and seeks to offer full product visibility before the pack is opened. Like the bases, the lid can be recycled.
Sabert manufactures both components in Europe. The board bases are made at its facility in Kimbolton, UK, while the lid comes from its location in Nivelles, Belgium.
Alex Noake, senior vice president and managing director for Sabert Europe, comments: “This improved version of Deli2Go delivers on our commitment to continuous improvement, combining practical design with a new base that enables a secure clipping lid system that helped our Tray2Go range earn a prestigious National Gold Award in the Paper & Packaging Innovation category at the Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice.
“We have over 40 years’ experience in providing innovative, value-added products to the highest quality standards, supported by outstanding customer service. Our mission is to offer our clients the best guarantees in terms of quality, safety and service, so you could say Sabert is the ‘go to’ for all a foodservice operator’s sustainable 2Go foodservice packaging solutions.”
Other developments from Sabert include its Hot2Go pack, unveiled last September. The dual-ovenable solution comprises a micro-fluted paperboard body and an optional rPET window, resisting grease and leakages without utilizing plastic laminates.
Since then, the company has supplied Pret A Manger with a bespoke, FSC-certified insert to secure and deliver its granola pot multipacks. This is hoped to maximize storage space in-store and improve delivery sales during the breakfast period, all while ensuring recyclability at end-of-life.
In other news, Elopak has revealed a paperboard solution for fresh liquids in chilled distribution chains. This approach is believed to reach a carbon footprint reduction of up to 14% compared to standard board cartons.
