Food and drink wholesaler Booker has announced its own-label packaging range seeking to support businesses including event caterers, food trucks and takeaways across the hospitality sector.
Rolling out across all Booker branches nationwide from mid-June, the CaterPro range features 255 disposable packaging and catering items. The range includes self-folding boxes for sandwiches, baguettes and wraps, ice cream and fruit tubs, flip lid boxes for cakes and pastries and cups for hot and cold drinks.
It also features compostable options and bagasse hinged lid burger boxes, chips and churros trays as well as square and round food boxes in multiple sizes with compartments, wooden cutlery and stirrers, and paper smoothie straws. Booker says there are three pricing tiers: CaterPro Essentials, CaterPro and CaterPro Premium.
The company adds that CaterPro products are food grade and sourced exclusively from BRC Grade A suppliers, ensuring quality, safety and consistency. All items display clear information on the outer casing about the materials used and disposal instructions, and a tick-list system on the front of the packaging provides recycling guidance.
In related news, this month traceless materials collaborated with Gastro Team Bremen (GTB) - a subsidiary of Aramark catering - to test its ‘plastic-free, naturally compostable’ fries pickers on a large scale at the Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals in Nuremberg, Germany. traceless says the pilot project represents an important step in its efforts to scale up sustainable food service solutions, with the pickers used on several food trucks.
Earlier this year Reusables.com unveiled its RFID-enabled, zero-deposit reuse system for supplying reusable foodservice containers and smart return bins to university campuses, offices, hospitals, and other institutions in hopes of reducing single-use waste and streamlining operational costs. By scanning their credit card, student card or employee card on a checkout device at point-of-sale, consumers can assign a reusable pack to their ID without additional sign-ups.
