API Group will showcase how brands can combine style and sustainability to create premium packaging solutions at this year’s Packaging Innovations London.

Creative development manager David Peters will deliver an exclusive presentation on the latest API trends which take inspiration from the global fashion industry. He will demonstrate how they translate into stand-out packaging concepts by using recent case studies in the luxury sector.

API’s annual Trends Folio identifies four creative themes driving the packaging industry. It showcases how an intelligent use of foils, laminates, and holographics can empower brands to capitalise on market changes. Speaking ahead of the event, David Peters said: “In today’s competitive market it is essential that brands create their own identity – and that this is relevant to their customers. Packaging, including the experience it delivers, is a fundamental part of this process.“This year’s Trends Folio inspires designers and brand owners to create an engaging brand experience and ensure their products consistently outshine the competition, whilst creating a connection with consumer.

“API works with global brands across a range of sectors to ensure packaging marries their brand identity with the appropriate trends. Its only through an understanding of the brand essence, as well as knowledge of the latest trends and techniques, that we can create the perfect packaging expression.

“It is important to remember that trends are just a steer. It is essential to understand and develop packaging solutions that are appropriate for the brand, consumer, category and environment in which the product will be positioned.“Packaging Innovations London is the perfect place for us to share this insight and we hope it will help designers, printers and brand owners understand the role these trends can play in increasing brand impact in 2018 and beyond.”

API Group will also showcase its class-leading Transmet™ solution, which allows brands to reduce their environmental impact without compromising a premium design finish.Transmet is a film-free laminate option for paperboard packaging, which has all the benefits of traditional metalized polyester cartonboard laminates, but without the film content, and is recyclable through normal waste streams.

In addition to its green credentials, the benefits of Transmet also include a high level of gloss finish and no risk of delamination, making it an effective solution across a wide range of applications.

David Peters will deliver his presentation on the ‘Luxury Design Trends for 2019 - Combining Style and Sustainability’ on the main stage at Packaging Innovations London on September 13th from 10.50am. David will also share his expertise as part of a panel discussion on ‘The Future of Luxury Packaging’ on September 13th from midday.
