When the international food and beverage industry meets at the Anuga FoodTec in Cologne from 20 to 23 March 2018, Gerhard Schubert GmbH will be presenting a TLM system for packaging yogurt cups in flowpacks.

For this purpose, the system is equipped with the Flowmodul flow-wrapping component, which is seamlessly integrated into the machine. The 3D scanner, also from Schubert, ensures the quality of the packaged products on the line.

Gerhard Schubert GmbH from Crailsheim has many years of experience in the packaging of dairy products and counts a large number of well-known producers among its customers. The Alois Müller dairy plant also uses the TLM technology for the secondary packaging of its products, such as the “Corner Yogurt” range. The machine presented at the Anuga FoodTec packs the “Corner Yogurt – mini” for children in mixed packs. The dual-chamber cups are brought together in pairs in a flowpack.

The machine processes the products at an optimum speed of 60 cycles per minute. This ensures that the yogurt does not adhere to the foil lid– which would be the case with higher cycle rates. A 3D scanner installed on the line ensures that yogurt cups with damaged or missing lids are not picked up. Furthermore, the 3D scanner ensures the correct orientation of the yogurt cups in the flowpack.

Equipped with five pick-&-place-robots, which place 300 products per minute into the Flowmodul feed chain, the machine achieves an output of 150 flowpacks per minute. Different packing layouts can be achieved thanks to the fully automatic changing of the flights used for feeding the cups, together with the fully scalable robots. Following delivery to the customer, the machine will also process the product, for instance, in 2, 3 or 6 packs. The ability to package mixed packs in different combinations gives the customer additional flexibility. The TLM system fulfills high standards in terms of hygiene and quality assurance during the packaging process. This allows the stainless steel cassettes and stainless steel flights to be easily cleaned under high pressure.

Maximum performance and flexibility when packaging in flowpacks

The second-generation Flowmodul enables simplified accessibility for maintenance and cleaning. The ergonomically designed film roll suspension also ensures convenient machine operation for technicians and machine operators. Uniform control, user friendliness, highly flexible robot loading and the fact that Schubert offers the entire machine concept from a single source are also key benefits the customer will capitalise on with this solution. With the Flowmodul, small batch sizes, short product lifecycles and a high product variety can be handled more efficiently than ever before.
