Ravenwood Packaging will exhibit the VXR®, as well as linerless applicators from the Nobac 500 machine range including the 500R ready meal linerless sleever at this year’s Foodex.

Set against the backdrop of the dazzling life sized video wall, the VXR, incorporating vision, x-ray and seal check technology will take centre stage. Launched in January 2017, the VXR is fast becoming the food industry’s machine of choice for end of line quality control. When combining its three technologies, the key functionality of the VXR system, is to identify and reject food trays that are seen to contain errors. Vision inspection and ‘Sapphire’ carbon nanotube field emission technology resolves these issues. ‘Sapphire’ is a leading technology in the field of x-ray, boasting low energy, high speeds and resolution for unparalleled performance. The VXR will be linked to a Nobac 500 linerless sleever for showcasing faultless linerless labels coupled with unrivalled quality control.

Joining the VXR will be two linerless applicators from their Nobac 500 machine range. The 500R ready meal linerless sleever can apply ready meal sleeves at a rate of 65 packs per minute ranging from 100mm to 225mm in width. Unlike traditional sleeves that are both costly and labour intensive due to the need for manual application, Ravenwood’s Slideable sleeves score by comparison as they are machine applied and come supplied on a roll. Sell-by dates can also be applied at the point of application whereas with manual application, these would need adding separately. The whole process is streamlined, saving on time and cost. The benefits are widely apparent which is why Ravenwood’s Slideable range is becoming increasingly attractive as the label of choice for straight-to-oven ready meals and other produce.

Ravenwood has achieved enormous success in the linerless label market with its linerless label and machine application technology. Linerless is the eco-friendly replacement for traditional labels that carry non-recyclable wasteful backing paper. With 20 years of linerless experience and a range of labelling solutions to help increase production efficiency, the company can tackle almost any packaging challenge in the food sector; from fish and meat, to fresh fruits and vegetables including dairy and ready meals.

Foodex will take place over three days (16-18 April 2018), at the NEC Birmingham. And this year’s show will be the 5th consecutive year to date for the leaders in linerless. Find Ravenwood on Stand N290.
