Narrow web specialist Pulse Roll Label Products Ltd has switched from its existing 1 ply labelling for packaging of its inks, coatings and varnishes to using multi-layer, multi-lingual self-adhesive labels, printed with its own PurePeel UV flexo peel and read release varnish.
In co-operation with leading self-adhesive label producer, Skanem Cardiff, the new labels have been designed and printed to incorporate H- (hazard) and P- (precautionary statements) phrases in English as well as 20 other languages.
The new 3 ply peel and read labels provide 5 printable areas for information which means that Pulse Roll Label Products now requires just one label for all its product packaging requirements.
Colin Stafford, Operations Director, Skanem UK, said, “Skanem offers innovative labelling solutions to customers across different market segments including home and personal care, premium wine and spirits. Our expertise in printing peel and read labels combined with the fact that we already use Pulse Roll Label Products’ PurePeel release coating for printing multi-layer labels, meant that this project partnership made perfect sense. The high performance PurePeel UV flexo release varnish is suitable for use across a wide range of applications and has excellent printability and repeatable release properties – a market requirement especially for markets such as industrial products that carry safety and hazard warnings. For release varnish, PurePeel is our coating of choice for the growing peel and read label market.”
Mikaela Harding, Product Manager, Pulse Roll Label Products said, “As part of our drive for continuous improvement, we are constantly looking at different areas of the business where we can increase efficiencies. The move to a multi-layer design for our product packaging streamlines our process and fully complies with the latest labelling regulations.”
PurePeel is formulated to provide repeatable release properties and adhesion on a variety of substrates for application on a wide range of packaging, containers and bottles. This provides an ideal solution for brand owners allowing extra space on pack for consumer product and safety information, user instructions and multiple languages, but without sacrificing graphics, visual appeal and impact on shelf.
This is particularly relevant for product packaging and labelling in the personal and beauty care, household, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors.
Because of its free radical UV formulation, PurePeel can be used on any printing machine at any time, significantly reducing waste and press clean-up times, improving production efficiencies and overcoming issues often associated with the use of cationic systems on press.
Pulse Roll Label Products will be exhibiting on stand G12 at Label&Print 2019, located alongside Packaging Innovations at the NEC from 27-28 February 2019. Skanem is exhibiting on stand G23.
