Avery Dennison has revealed its AD Visi product line, a new range of Active Bluetooth Low Energy labels designed to deliver advanced tracking for time critical and high-value shipments across global supply chains.

The company says the new product line incorporates low energy consumption chip technology for optimized power use and long read range capabilities, compared to standard Bluetooth wireless technology-enabled chips. The AD Visi product line aims to enhance end-to-end traceability for high-value or sensitive goods while offering broader applications for sectors needing greater supply chain visibility.

Avery Dennison states that its Active Bluetooth Low Energy labels provide live location data, tamper alerts, continuous broadcasting and condition monitoring without manual intervention or specialized scanning infrastructure. The initial product consists of two labels utilizing InPlay’s NanoBeacon chip technology, engineered for ultra-low power consumption and long-range performance.

Avery Dennison’s AD Visi Way label delivers Real-Time Location System (RTLS) tracking and continuous location data through the supply chain, combined with the AD Visi Secure label which features RTLS tracking with an integrated tamper-evidence loop, delivering time and location-stamped responsibility identification. Both products are wireless activated and powered by non-lithium printed batteries.

Designed for applying to parcels, pallets and returnable transport items, the labels are less than 1mm thick with a flexible construction. They have a temperature range of between -30°C to +60°C and a reading distance of up to 100 meters.

The portfolio also includes Passive Bluetooth Low Energy, said to be a cost-effective solution for long-term deployments, and UHF RFID, a foundational technology for mass-scale inventory and item-level supply chain visibility. Avery Dennison is currently developing a wider product suite due to launch in early 2027.

In June, Identiv unveiled its new range of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) inlays and labels, made with Wiliot’s Gen3 IC technology and seeking to enable organizations to continuously sense, track and understand the state of their goods across complex supply chains. The label is said to feature a compact form factor, energy harvesting and integrated sensing to deliver continuous data without the cost and maintenance of batteries.

More recently, Wiliot and testing and measurement solutions company CISC partnered to support high-volume functional testing of Wiliot’s battery-free Internet of Things (IoT) Pixels for labels. The solution can be incorporated into reel-to-reel production equipment or deployed as a dedicated offline tester.
