
Speciality coatings provider Stahl has announced its expanded Sensora portfolio of high-performance haptic coatings, with tactile finishes including soft, rubbery and textured.
Stahl says the Sensora range is developed for narrow web and flexible packaging and paper and board, suitable for a range of food and non-food applications such as cosmetics, folding cartons, flexible food packaging, technology products and labels.
The new coatings are said to deliver matte, soft feel and other haptic finishes while supporting safety and sustainability standards, with some coatings featuring water-based and energy-curable technologies. Stahl adds that selected products offer food-contact compliant options including U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA), German Ink Ordinance and ISEGA compliance.
The company will be displaying the Sensora portfolio at LOUPE Americas 2026, at booth 727.
In related news, London-based company Demeter Bio has revealed a non-toxic coating designed to replace PFAS in textiles and packaging using biomaterials, suitable for applications such as clothing, upholstery, hygiene and packaging. The company recently won the Environment category of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Emerging Technologies Competition for the coating, said to deliver a ‘safer and environmentally friendly alternative’ to PFAS.
Last month UK company Kelpi announced that its seaweed-based biomaterial coating has been cleared for food contact by the US Food and Drug Administration, allowing it to be used on paper and board food packaging sold in the US. The news of the US clearance follows an earlier ‘Letter of No Objection’ from the Canadian Bureau of Chemical Safety.
