Aptar Beauty has revealed a new dropper packaging solution for skincare and dermocosmetic products, featuring an automatic filling system and a short applicator for simple and hygienic dosage.

The NeoDropper Autoload’s twist-and-push automatic dispensing system reveals a push-button actuator when the cap is twisted. The applicator is automatically filled with the relevant dose, and it reloads every time the package is reopened.

The soft actuation and ‘high-precision’ pipette are set to facilitate ‘clean’ and ‘controlled’ product application.

Additionally, the short applicator is designed to avoid contact with the formula. This is expected to avoid bacterial contamination, with tests conducted by an independent microbiology laboratory indicating that there are four times fewer microbes on the NeoDropper Autoload applicator than traditional dropper solutions.

“The innovative pipette of NeoDropper Autoload is really unique,” says Caroline Aubert, global category director of Facial Skincare & Color Cosmetics at Aptar Beauty. “It enhances precision and protection, and is a true differentiator for prestige brands.”

Apparently, the dip tube inside the bottle helps consumers use the product until the last drop and prevent formula waste. The bottle is also sealed to prevent overflows and spills, even when overturned.

Customers can also tailor the dropper’s upper and lower collars, as well as the actuator itself. Options include metallization, silk-screening, and lacquering.

The NeoDropper Autoload system is anticipated to unlock an ‘unparalleled’ consumer experience with a simple and ‘effortless’ skincare routine.

Aptar Beauty also hopes that pairing the system with a glass bottle will make the packaging compatible with glass recycling streams, where the local infrastructure exists.

In similar news, UKPACK has developed a recyclable ‘squeezed dropper’ for skincare oils and serums. Compatible with up to 50% post-consumer recyclate, the packaging is designed for precision and one-handed product application.

Shellworks also claims to have developed the ‘world’s first’ fully home-compostable pipette dropper for products in the beauty and wellness sectors. Reportedly, this solution has replaced over 90 tonnes of conventional plastic so far.

Additionally, Aptar Beauty has helped Clarins introduce airless and refillable packaging for its eye cream product. One reload is believed to improve on the previous pack’s environmental impact by 73%.
