Quadpack has unveiled its Serenity Tube for applying eye cream and other skincare treatments, with a flexible applicator and the option to incorporate recycled content in the cap and sleeve.
The 19mm-diameter tube, available in 8-25ml capacities, is suited for creamy formulas like depuffing treatments or anti-ageing serums. Quadpack says its patented, spatula-shaped applicator lets the user dispense and apply at the same time.
Up to 100% recycled content can be incorporated in the cap and 50% in the sleeve. The company states that switching from virgin plastic to the maximum PCR lowers carbon footprint by 21% and more than doubles the circularity rate.
A rectangular orifice allows for either a thin line or a wide layer of product without leaks or drips, due to its valve system. The TPE material is designed to make it easier for consumers to massage the cream into the skin for better penetration. All components can be decorated to match a brand’s identity.
The tube is available in ABL (5-layer, including aluminium) or PE (mono- or five-layer, with an EVOH barrier for formula protection). The cap is made of PP.
In related news, Amcor collaborated with Bulldog Skincare to implement over 62% post-consumer recycled plastic into its tubes and reduce their sleeve thickness by almost 17%, expected to save around 8.5 metric tonnes of plastic annually. The lighter-weight sleeves are said to remain compatible with the existing tube cap and shoulder to avoid disruptions in the filling process.
More recently, beauty and wellness company Nu Skin relaunched its ageLOC Tru Face line with packaging designed to cut down on waste, lower carbon emissions and utilize recycled materials. The relaunch includes ageLOC Tru Face Peptide Retinol Complex, packaged in a mono-material pump system with a refill cartridge made from 100% recycled materials.
