R-Cycle

R-Cycle has collaborated with packaging management company TILISCO to present a software-as-service-solution - the PPWR Compliance Compass - at interpack 2026, currently taking place in Düsseldorf.

The PPWR Compliance Compass uses AI-powered data capturing, aiming to overcome issues with scattered and incomplete data. The companies say a specially trained AI automatically extracts and aggregates all relevant packaging data from various sources, completing missing information with the help of specific supplier inquiries.

The focus is on the information required to comply with PPWR regulations effective from August 12, 2026, aiming to simplify the process and enable timely implementation for companies, even if they do not yet have the necessary in-house expertise and resources.

Users receive a transparent overview of their packaging portfolio via a dashboard. Once the necessary packaging information is available, they can generate the legally required declaration of conformity.

R-Cycle says the tool features built-in gap analysis which immediately compares the existing data set with current PPWR requirements. A traffic-light system provides a visual representation of the compliance status of the whole portfolio and highlights any missing or critical information. Users can also request missing information directly from their suppliers within the tool.

The company states that the system uses open and global GS1 standards, seeking to ensure a ‘future-proof’ infrastructure that enables seamless interoperability between manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers.

R-Cycle adds that the tool’s scope will be gradually expanded in line with growing legal requirements. The solution is currently on display at interpack at R-Cycle’s stand, Booth C10, Hall 7a in the Start-up Zone. The company states that visitors can experience the tool’s demo version which covers various types of packaging such as FMCG, industrial and logistics and provides a step-by-step guide to using the tool.

At the start of this year, a report from The Consumer Goods Forum’s Plastic Waste Coalition of Action asserted that artificial intelligence can help companies generate and optimize packaging design, sort waste effectively and trace materials throughout the supply chain. The report also identifies five ‘pain points’ holding businesses back from scaling up their packaging solutions, including ensuring that portfolios are recyclable and recycled in practice, establishing refillable and reusable packaging systems and undertaking the required reporting and gathering accurate data to stay up to date with regulations.

More recently, Melodea unveiled its MelOx-NGen and VBseal water-based barrier coatings, aiming to unlock PPWR compliance for CPG brands and operational flexibility for packaging professionals with no capex required. Both solutions ‘integrate seamlessly’ into existing production lines and require no capital expenditure, inventory changes or new infrastructure.
