Lecta has introduced its Linerset FP barrier base paper for converters and printers, designed for flexible packaging and seeking to offer a strong translucent alternative for bags, pouches and wrapping applications.
Linerset FP reportedly allows the replacement of non-recyclable multilayer packaging with fully recyclable alternatives and is tailored for use in flexographic printing processes. Lecta says the material is suitable for a wide range of applications including food and industrial packaging and is available in a variety of grammages (40, 45, 50, 56 and 78 g/m²).
According to Lecta, the new paper complies with recyclability requirements and is manufactured in accordance with ISO 14001 and EMAS environmental standards, ISO 50001 energy management standards, ISO 9001 quality standards, ISO 45001 occupational health and safety standards, and FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management Systems certification. The base paper is also available with PEFC or FSC C011032 Chain of Custody forestry certifications upon request.
In related news, in 2024 Mondi switched more than 95% of its range of release liners and extrusion solutions to PEFC and FSC certified base paper sources. The move was said to be further step towards responsible sourcing and transparency in the supply chain and aims to support traceability and sourcing from responsibly managed forests.
Ahlstrom recently announced a new addition to its base paper range, LamiBax Flex, specifically for flexible packaging and said to achieve ‘exceptional’ barrier properties while optimizing costs. The company states that the new paper maintains a recyclable profile and its design enables reduced primer coating needs.
