Hybrid Software Helix

Hybrid Software Helix has revealed its SmartRIP industrial inkjet Raster Image Processor (RIP) for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and integrators, said to deliver ‘exceptional’ performance and scalability for a wide range of industrial printing applications.

Claimed to be the ‘world’s first’ Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)-native RIP, SmartRIP’s feature set and pricing is designed specifically for the broader industrial print market, rather than high-end digital presses for label and packaging applications. The new processor also features an industrial OPC UA standard interface, ensuring secure and interoperable communication across modern production environments.

The company adds that SmartRIP offers advanced print quality technologies including colour management from ColorLogic. These technologies are in a user-friendly automated system, aiming to enable any operator to achieve ‘excellent print quality with ease and confidence’.

Managing Director Justin Bailey said: “With SmartRIP, OEMs and integrators can now deliver exceptional print quality faster, with less complexity and at a lower cost. Additionally with its embedded OPC UA, SmartRIP is secure by design, making it ready for the rigoru likely to be required to comply with the Cyber Resilience Act that comes into play in Europe in 2027.”

Back in March, HP launched HP ThermaCore, its thermal inkjet (TIJ) technology designed to improve efficiency, meet global coding standards and reduce operational costs in coding and marking applications. The technology can apparently achieve three times the throw distance, twice the print swath, and twice the printing speed of previous TIJ generations.

The next month saw Brilliant Group announce its Low Migration Fluorescent Ink Base (LMB) series for lithographic ink systems, seeking to address increasing industry demand for food-safe, compliant, and high-performance printing solutions. The ink base is designed to enable ink makers to formulate with greater flexibility, improving efficiency and performance.
