Gualapack Ukraine

Gualapack Ukraine has expanded its portfolio with flat bottom and side gusset pouch formats, developed for optimal shape use, the ability to stand upright regardless of content level, and enhanced user convenience. The move aims to meet market needs and improve efficiency for manufacturers across various industries.

The company says the new flat bottom pouch is built from five connected panels, allowing it to stand upright even when partially filled or almost empty. The side gusset bag features expandable sides that adjust to different fill levels, gaining its shape and stability from the contents inside.

Both formats can stand upright without additional support and make efficient use of space during transportation and storage. They’re suitable for use in applications such as pet food, coffee, superfoods and sports nutrition.

Gualapack Ukraine states that its proprietary forming technology prevents the creation of internal folds or ‘pockets’ where product residue could accumulate, a common flaw in traditional pouch designs. While standard pouches often weaken at the junction of the front, back, and gusset panels, increasing the risk of tearing, the company claims its advanced manufacturing process eliminates this, resulting in ‘exceptional’ strength, reliability and a clean, efficient package structure.

Both formats are also available in mono-material structures, designed to support recyclability and help brands meet EU sustainability goals.

In related news, Dow, Macchi, and ITP collaborated on a mono-PE pouch prototype containing over 50% chemically recycled content, intended as a recyclable pack for snacks and other highly regulated products. The companies aim to lessen reliance on virgin resources while providing a gas- and moisture-resistant material suitable for direct contact with food products.

This month SÜDPACK Medica announced its MedHub service, allowing customers to order pre-made pouches in standard sizes and defined batch quantities by phone, email, or online. The pouches are said to be manufactured in ISO-certified cleanrooms and fulfil the stringent quality requirements of the healthcare industry.
