Constantia Flexibles and Migros 20.05.25

Constantia Flexibles has implemented its mono PP laminate EcoVerHighPlus into a soft bag for coffee packaging in partnership with Delica, part of Migros Industrie – a Swiss producer of chocolate, snacks, cooking products and coffee.

EcoVerHighPlus is engineered to meet the demands of coffee packaging with ‘exceptional’ barrier properties that lock in aroma and freshness for ground coffee and coffee beans. Its advanced material structure aims to deliver a recyclable-ready packaging option without compromising quality or functionality. The mono PP valve is said to enhance product freshness by allowing volatile gases to escape while keeping external gases out.

Tobias Acker, market product manager for Beverages at Constantia Flexibles, commented: “Thanks to our partnership with Delica AG we have successfully launched one of the first recyclable-ready mono PP laminates for coffee soft bags on the market. This represents a meaningful step forward for both the industry and the environment.”

A representative of Migros Industrie added: “EcoVerHighPlus has proven to be a reliable, high-performance solution, demonstrating excellent runnability on vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) machines without requiring any equipment modifications.”

We recently spoke to Greiner Packaging about its collaboration with Constantia Flexibles to produce a home compostable coffee capsule solution, with Greiner Packaging providing the body of the capsule and Constantia Flexibles contributing its EcoPressoLid. Once used, the entire capsule system can be disposed of in a home composting environment.

Earlier this year Amcor revealed its ‘recycle-ready’ refill pack for dry beverage products such as instant coffee, claiming to offer a 73% reduction in carbon footprint and meet consumer demand for recyclable refills. The paper-based stand-up pouch contains 85% fibre content and has been certified by Cepi and Aticelca as kerbside recyclable in ‘several’ European countries.
