Burgopak has developed a small retrofit lighting unit to spotlight luxury products during unboxing; it can then be removed and reused while the rest of the pack is recycled.
The HALO device consists of two LEDs powered by a small battery. It is switched on when the box opens, projecting a beam of light onto or around the product.
Potential applications include jewellery, cosmetics, metal bank cards, and high-end spirits. The in-box light is expected to highlight product details like colour, surface texture, and reflective qualities.
Designed to work with ‘almost any’ opening mechanism, HALO can be clipped to the packaging in a self-contained, retrofitted format. Consumers can then remove the device to recycle the rest of the box, and Burgopak recommends reusing the light in a drawer, doll’s house, or another application.
Apparently, the device has passed all necessary regulatory testing. It is now commercially available via the Burgopak website or email (info@burgopak.com).
In another solution, Burgopak worked with Winnove MED to redesign its dental retainer packaging in line with a rebrand. The new pack is designed to convey a premium aesthetic, protect the retainers in transit, and facilitate smooth fulfilment.
Elsewhere in the luxury goods space, Stora Enso has introduced its new uncoated solid bleached sulfate board for cosmetics, perfumes, and other premium products. It aims to meet demand for natural and renewable solutions in the sector and claims to be recyclable at end-of-life.
