Burgopak

OptimallyMe has partnered with packaging design studio Burgopak to create multi-component packaging for its at-home blood and microbiome test kits which includes instructions, a container for the sample return and a pre-paid shipping label.

Apparently, OptimallyMe began in 2019 when founder Ed van-Harmelen tried multiple food intolerance, blood and DNA tests and supplements to establish the cause of his low mood and energy levels. Inspired by what he discovered, he brought together a medical and scientific team aiming to give more people the power to do the same, via OptimallyMe’s testing kits and personalized health dashboard.

The test kit packs are made from 300gsm Alaska White Board and a white satin ribbon. They have a CMYK print, a pantone and a spot UV for extra emphasis on selected artwork.

Alexander Parker, head of design at Burgopak, said: “There is a lot going on inside the packaging, but with its two lids and neat organisation it’s easy to navigate and use. The pack has our proprietary Coupe design, it feels compact and efficient, and has a premium touch with the ribbon from which the user pulls to open the pack.”

Founder Edward van-Harmelen added: “We wanted our packaging to have an approachable, yet quality feel. It’s the first time our customers come into physical contact with our brand and a positive impression is vital. We’re delighted with the resulting packaging, which helps to make testing a straightforward and ultimately illuminating experience.”

Burgopak worked with German startup Inne last year to create bespoke packaging for its minilab product, reportedly the ‘first’ at-home hormone testing kit. Burgopak said the design needed to be quick to assemble and fulfil and provide space for printed instructions in multiple languages.

The company also collaborated with dtcpay to create a sliding packaging system for housing its global payment cards. Messaging and activation information is revealed during unboxing, intended to capture the consumer’s attention and streamline the setup process.
