Burgopak and Cousin have boxed SALT! Supplements’ new electrolyte stick sachets in Metsä Board’s Pro FBB Bright paperboard, targeting visual impact, shipping efficiency, and practicality.

With its new product packaging, SALT! Supplements aspired to unlock a ‘premium experience from the opening moment’ while maintaining ease of use.

“It was essential that the packaging would be both appealing and functional for sportspeople,” says athlete and SALT! Supplements co-founder Alfonso Iovine.

In response, Cousin tasked Burgopak with developing a visually appealing pack that travels well and opens effectively.

“We’ve worked with the Burgopak team in the past and knew they would be the perfect partner for this project,” commented Lee Godwin, development director at Cousin. “It was a seamless collaboration and the packaging wholly reflects the quality of the product inside.”

Burgopak’s proprietary Coupe pack was selected. Designed to minimize dead space, the pack’s dimensions meet the requirements of Royal Mail’s large letter shipping – a move hoped to lower shipping costs and environmental impacts.

At the same time, the fifteen sachets are staggered at an angle inside the pack for visual appeal. This is also expected to make efficient use of space and materials.

“Every detail, from the angled sachet presentation to the optimized dimensions for Royal Mail shipping, balances visual engagement with cost-effective practicality,” says Dane Whitehurst, creative director at Burgopak.

The box is made from MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright. It is set to protect the product in transit while meeting SALT! Supplements’ goals for product protection.

“We operate an international supply chain, giving us access to a wide range of materials, from conventional paperboards to specialist stocks,” explains Alexander Parker, head of Wellness at Burgopak.

“To ensure efficiency, we have a curated list of preferred materials in each region that meet our standards for performance, value and sustainability. In Europe, one of these key materials is MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright.”

Erja Hyrsky, Metsä Board’s SVP of Commercial Operations, continued: “We are pleased that MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright was selected for this project, supporting brands and designers in delivering packaging solutions that meet the highest standards for quality.”

“The feedback we’re receiving is very positive and we’re excited about supporting as many athletes as possible to reach peak performance,” Iovine concludes.

Earlier this year, Burgopak also worked alongside Winnove MED to help rebrand its dental container packaging. This includes Burgopak’s Cabrio pack, which is made from MetsäBoard Pro FBB Bright; it features two cavities for each mould and the retainer, and cushioning to protect the product.

Other collaborations include Mondi providing its solid board packaging to salt producer Südwestdeutsche Salzwerke after its acquisition of Schumacher Packaging’s Western European assets; and Amcor offering its refillable, mono-polypropylene Exclusive stick to package Cut By Fred’s Detox Stick Shampoo.
