Cosmo Films has launched an anti-fog, transparent BOPET lidding film for food packaging – intending to prevent condensation, boost visual appeal, and extend the shelf life of cold-chain products.
Condensation can pose a challenge in the visual presentation of food packaging, especially in cold-chain applications. Not only does it impact the product’s shelf life, but consumer perceptions may also be affected at the point of sale.
Cosmo Films’ Sealable Peelable Transparent Anti-Fog BOPET (PET) Lidding Film features an advanced coating on the sealable side; this prevents droplet formation, unlocks the anti-fogging effect, and keeps the film clear in storage and on display.
Designed for performance and versatility, the film can be securely sealed and easily peeled, balancing product protection with ease of use. Its low sealing temperature is set to improve energy efficiency and ensure the film’s compatibility with high-speed packaging lines.
According to Cosmo Films, its new film maintains internal pack conditions – extending the shelf life of fresh salads and vegetables by 4-5 days. Additionally, it can be microwaved for convenience in ready-to-eat and prepared food applications.
The film is compatible with various substrates, including PP, PET (APET and CPET), LDPE, PVC, and HIPS containers. When applied to PET trays, it is said to be recyclable in the mainstream plastic recycling stream.
Cosmo Films recommends the lidding film for a range of applications, including refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy products such as yoghurt and butter, fresh-cut vegetables and prepared fruits, fresh meat, bakery items, and herbs.
“In food packaging, visibility is directly linked to consumer trust and purchase decisions,” said Kulbhushan Malik, global business head at Cosmo Films. “With our Anti-Fog Transparent BOPET Lidding Films, we are addressing a key pain point for brands by combining condensation control with superior clarity, strong sealing performance and ease of use.
“This launch reinforces our commitment to expanding our specialty portfolio with high-performance, value-added solutions that support both product protection and brand differentiation.”
The development comes as Avery Dennison warns that food waste could cost businesses a total of $540 billion (€462,099,299,760) in 2026. Its research found that 72% of supply chain leaders attribute most of their food waste to meat products, while identified produce as the most problematic food group.

Made from an advanced polyamide-based film, the solution is designed to offer ‘moderate to high’ water vapour transmission rates and prevent moisture accumulation.
