Aptar Closures has introduced its new 2” Disc Top Lite, said to be 23% lighter than standard disc tops and part of the company’s disc top dispensing solutions globally introduced for beauty, personal care and home care products this year.
Aptar says the new closure has a 2-inch diameter, weighs 10.2 grams and is 23% lighter than standard 2” disc tops. The company adds that the reduced part weight leads to a decrease in plastic usage, aiming to help brands meet their sustainability goals without compromising performance.
The 2” Disc Top Lite is available in polypropylene (PP) and post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, with a crab claw closure. The solution is produced in a 24mm custom thread neck finish with a 3mm x 8.5mm orifice and is apparently suitable for medium-to-thick viscosities for a variety of applications.
Aptar says the solution is available in a variety of frost and gloss finishes, and brands can customize the closure with logos or marketing messages to improve shelf appeal and differentiation.
“At Aptar Closures, we are constantly seeking ways to innovate while minimizing our environmental footprint,” said Erin Harmon, product line director for North America at Aptar Closures. “The 2” Disc Top Lite is a prime example of how we can deliver on both sustainability and functionality, providing our customers with a premium solution that supports their sustainability initiatives without sacrificing quality.”
In May, the company revealed its recyclable, single-component E-Disc Top closure for e-commerce applications in the beauty, personal care, and home care sectors, intending to prevent damage to products during transportation. Said to be Amazon ISTA-6 Compliant, it is designed to survive harsh handling and transportation processes while also keeping intuitive consumer use in mind.
The same month, Aptar Beauty announced its dropper packaging, NeoDropper, aiming to improve application precision and consumer experience in response to the development of more demanding concentrated formulas. To meet the requirement of precision dosing in skincare, NeoDropper is apparently designed to deliver the right dose with a squeeze of the bulb.
