Quadpack and Hei Poa

Quadpack has worked with French suncare brand Hei Poa on its first facial stick product, a mono-material pack with 50% post-consumer recycled content (PCR) designed for easy application.

Launched for the summer season, the Stick Solaire Visage SPF50+ is packaged in Quadpack’s refillable, 15g Infinite Panstick. Infinite Panstick’s 21.3mm diameter is said to be smaller than the market standard and designed for easy application to localised areas such as the bridge of the nose, lips and ears.

Aiming to reduce plastic content and facilitate recycling, Hei Poa opted for 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic to be added to the mono-material polypropylene (PP) pack. The pack comes with the Eco-recharge Stick Solaire Visage SPF50+ refill, which is available at a reduced cost in an effort to encourage refill habits.

As time to market was short, Quadpack says it started injecting the components while the artwork was being validated. Once approved, heat transfer was used to apply Hei Poa’s graphics to the pack and the refill.

Laura Emery, Hei Poa product manager, said: “We were looking for a sustainable pack for our new SPF50+ Sun Stick. The Infinite Panstick brought together most of our criteria: refillable, recycled plastic, four-colour printing and an ideal diameter.”

She added: “The high-quality decoration meets our expectations and our consumers are loving it. The feedback we are getting is that [the packaging is] practical to use, very beautiful and more ecological.”

Last month, Quadpack introduced new shapes and applicators to its range of on-the-go skincare and makeup tottles, which the company says are all made from recyclable materials and have PCR options. Each of the tottles apparently come with LCA-based environmental impact data for customers to consult.

Also in August, Aptar Closures revealed its 2” Disc Top Lite, said to be 23% lighter than standard disc tops and part of the company’s disc top dispensing solutions globally introduced for beauty, personal care and home care products this year. The solution is available in a variety of frost and gloss finishes, and brands can customize the closure with logos or marketing messages.
