Aptar Closures has introduced a new range of inverted lidless dispensing closures for the beauty and personal care markets. The line’s Cleo and Airy closures aim to help eliminate the need for separate lids and provide a ready-to-dispense packaging format that reduces unwanted product waste.
The closures are designed for use with a variety of products including shampoos and conditioners, body washes, baby soaps, lotions, and pet shampoos. Aptar says its inverted lidless technology is already being featured on a pet care shampoo line in China, and additional versions of the inverted lidless closures have been introduced in the home care and hair care markets.
Aptar Closures states that the Cleo and Airy closures both feature an “always open” design, can be adapted to suit various levels of product viscosity and feature frost finishes. However, the Cleo closure is compatible with neck finishes of 28-400 and 33-400, is 2.125” in diameter, and features a crab claw seal and a 0.375” orifice. Airy is designed for 28-410 neck finishes, is 2.12” in diameter, and has a plug seal with a 0.3” orifice.
The Cleo and Airy closures both utilize SimpliSqueeze, Aptar Closures’ signature flow control valve. By opening with a squeeze and reliably closing when that squeeze is released, the valve is said to eliminate the need for contact with the closure and is designed to ‘substantially reduce’ unintentional dispensing or foreign particle ingress. The company adds that SimpliSqueeze valves seek to provide a steady dispensing stream and a clean cutoff.
The inverted lidless series aims to give consumers ease of use and accessibility, allowing shampoos or conditioners to be dispensed easily, even with wet hands. The new technology allows single-handed dispensing, designed to make scenarios such as parents dispensing infant body wash while bathing a baby easier.
In related news, Aptar Beauty has introduced new dispensing solutions for the personal care market, aiming to make it easier for brands to deliver personalized packaging that stands out on shelf. A range of decoration and finishing treatments are available in-house for plastic and metal surfaces, with techniques said to be compatible with sustainable materials.
Lindal Group recently unveiled its Snap, Luna and Matteo actuator solutions designed to expand its portfolio across healthcare, personal care and homecare applications, including nasal formulations and aluminium spray cans. The 35mm Luna actuator features a twist-lock with a visible on/off indicator and an audible click on use, aiming to help prevent accidental actuation.
