Hugo Beck has launched a brand-new machine concept for film packaging. The flowpack X-D zip enables the production of 100% airtight standard flowpacks and three-side seal bags with a ziplock seal, from a single machine. Until now, this process required two different machines.
The new 2-in-1 solution saves space and initial investment outlay for manufacturers wanting to use both packaging formats. It is designed to be easy to use and flexible in production, with quick and easy changeovers. The flowpack X-D zip is ideal for food applications such as resealable packaging for block cheese.
Low space requirement with highest production flexibilityWith resealable packaging becoming more and more popular with consumers, especially in the food industry, there is an increasing challenge for manufacturers to be able to quickly respond to market requirements for convenient and easy to use packaging styles. Seeing this need, Hugo Beck developed the flowpack X-D zip space-saving solution, integrating two packaging systems to allow customers to choose between these different types of packaging, without the need for an additional machine or having to commit to either flowpack or ziplock bag early on. Changeovers can also be carried out in as little as 15 minutes making the new combination packaging machine extremely flexible for each different production requirement.
The flowpack X-D zip film packaging machine can pack a variety of products suitable for horizontal transportation within film, and provides the addition functionality of a zip lock. This means poly bags can also be used in non-food applications where hygienic, air-tight packaging is required, such as cosmetics and hygiene products.
A stainless steel construction ensures ideal cleaning and hygiene and the flowpack X-D zip is capable of around 100 flowpacks per minute and 80 three-side seal ziplock bags per minute. Optional features include automatic film changing, thermal transfer printing, for example for the application of a best before date, and Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP).
“Hugo Beck has been developing and manufacturing innovative film packaging machines for more than 60 years. Our new 2-in-1 machine expands our already broad portfolio with a technical solution that opens up a whole new dimension of flexibility and productivity for our customers,” explains Timo Kollmann, Sales Director at Hugo Beck. “This guarantees a crucial competitive advantage for companies especially in those areas where consumer demand is on the rise.”
The flowpack X-D zip can be seen at the Hugo Beck demonstration centre in Dettingen/Erms (Germany) and will also be on display at FachPack in Nuremberg on the 25 - 27 September 2018.
