Taghleef Industries has introduced its new polyolefin (PO) TD shrink sleeve film, SHAPE360 TDSW, designed for applying opaque white labels to clear PET bottles.
The new film is said to improve print quality with its glossy finish and maintain the low-density properties essential for recyclability while supporting the reuse of PET bottle material in bottle-to-bottle recycling.
Taghleef Industries says that SHAPE360 TDSW has ‘inherent floatability’ achieved through its low density. Apparently, this also facilitates efficient separation of PO label flakes from rigid PET bottle flakes during the recycling process, resulting in cleaner PET recyclate and a reduction in plastic waste.
The film is designed for high ink adhesion, preventing ink bleeding during recycling and ensuring optimal recyclate purity. When used on PE containers, the labels and containers are part of a single PO compatible recycling stream.
The company adds that SHAPE360 TDSW is ideal for light-sensitive products like dairy foods and beverages and is compatible with a range of printing techniques in both conventional and digital methods. It also provides a solution for full-body labelling of various container shapes.
In February, Berry Global’s flexible films division revealed its new Bontite Sustane Stretch Film with 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, said to be recyclable post-use where PE film collections exist. Berry says the films provide strength, puncture resistance and load stability for various industries including logistics, food and beverage, retail, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce.
More recently, ExxonMobil and Malpack teamed up to launch a high-performance pre-stretch film using ExxonMobil’s Signature Polymers, said to have high tenacity, holding force and stability while maintaining production efficiency. Key performance features of the new film include high downgauging potential, reportedly enabling thinner film designs that maintain performance while using less material.
