Finishing solutions supplier Nobelus has released a line of premium wet films for flexible packaging with no adhesive layer, said to be compatible with solventless and solvent-based adhesives applied on flexographic presses or wet laminating systems.
There are eight print web films in the collection; five are re-sized versions of the company’s luxury label films, while three are new to the European market. Nobelus says its Platinum OPP Films have ‘crystal-clear gloss’ and non-reflective matt options and its EcoElement CLS Films provide a plastic-free alternative seeking to support compostable packaging structures.
The collection also includes two versions of the Karess soft-touch finish: a PET version for durable stand-up pouches and an OPP film ideal for various formats including sachets and stick packs. For enhanced damage resistance, the new range offers sandpaper-textured FineGrit Film and the scratch-resistant ScuffProof Film, both manufactured with high durability to protect ink and ensure the finish does not rub off with regular use.
In related news, earlier this year ExxonMobil and Malpack teamed up to launch a high-performance pre-stretch film using ExxonMobil’s Signature Polymers, said to have high tenacity, holding force and stability while maintaining production efficiency. The companies say the new film has consistent load stability across all pre-stretch levels, helping to ensure secure pallet containment during transport and storage.
The following month Taghleef Industries introduced its new polyolefin (PO) TD shrink sleeve film, SHAPE360 TDSW, designed for applying opaque white labels to clear PET bottles. The film is designed for high ink adhesion, preventing ink bleeding during recycling and ensuring optimal recyclate purity.
More recently, Coveris Rypin collaborated with Polish brand Brześć to package its ‘puffs’ snacks in a recyclable film, said to improve shelf appeal and support the reduction of packaging waste. The film is also optimized for eight-colour flexographic printing with optional matt or gloss finishes.
