Yonwoo presents Acto, a cosmetic pack with a thumb-swipe opening for convenient, one-handed dispensing – and a refill mechanism to reduce plastic waste.
Acto’s Open & Lock mechanism is designed to slide open and closed with the push of a thumb. The cap is built into the container for easy, one-handed use, preventing the loss of the lid component.
When closed, the cap completely seals the outlet. Replacing conventional screw tops, this mechanism is set to preserve the product, prevent external contamination, and avoid spillage on the go.
The ‘sleek and clean’ Open & Lock design also eliminates the hinge of a flip-top cap. Additionally, the container’s refillable container system is expected to cut down on plastic waste.
Acto’s compact, portable size and shape are expected to suit multiple product categories, from hand care to sun care. The product is expected to launch in the second half of 2026.
Other companies have also sought to unlock refill capabilities in personal care applications. Make Waves presents antiperspirant and deodorant refills made from recycled and recyclable plastic; and, after its acquisition of Wild last year, Unilever now sells a refillable deodorant collection under its Dove brand.
Elsewhere, Ripl Efek provides metal vessels and refill canisters for its laundry detergent lineup, designed to combine waste reduction with an ‘intentional self-care ritual’, while Smol’s refillable aluminium bottles for various cleaning products are expected to avoid single-use plastics and unnecessary waste.
