Reconomy has launched Reconomy Nordics, a regional setup aiming to provide a data-driven circular economy solution for its waste management, recycling and materials recovery brands.
Reconomy Nordics plans to deliver the full range of Reconomy’s Recycle and Comply services across the region by bringing together its specialist waste management, recycling and materials recovery brands – Combineering and Sudamin Rohstoff – with Comply Loop’s packaging data capabilities and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) knowledge.
Reconomy states that its customers will be able to leverage Reconomy Nordics’ scale, technology and data-driven insights to make better use of their materials, decouple growth from resource consumption, lower their carbon footprint and meet regulatory requirements across the region.
Torben Kristiansen, chief business development officer for Reconomy Nordics and executive director for CircuLab, will lead the new regional setup from its office in Copenhagen, Denmark. The new location will also house analysts and business development colleagues from the developing CircuLab team, Reconomy’s new sustainability research innovation hub.
Earlier this year Project STOP, an Indonesia-based circular waste management scheme run by Borealis and Systemiq, welcomed Clean Rivers as its latest partner. The two organisations seek to establish Indonesia’s first Regency-wide waste management system in the Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, Indonesia.
More recently, Morssinkhof-Rymoplast Group and Fost Plus’ revealed their state-of-the-art plastics recycling facility in Lommel, aiming to convert everyday waste from 80% of Belgian households into high-quality recyclate for packaging applications. The plant is expected to process milk bottles, butter tubs, shampoo containers, and other day-to-day household waste collected from four million Belgian homes via the national PMD (plastic, metal, and drink cartons) system.
