In partnership with Italian pasta company Astrabio (Iris Bio), Koehler Paper’s flexible packaging paper, said to be heat-sealable and maximize shelf life, has been utilized for pasta packs.
Apparently, the Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure paper also protects the product within and features strength properties that make it suitable for further processing on standard packaging machines.
Mauro Moretti, sales manager for Flexible Packaging Paper at Koehler Italia, says: “With ‘Koehler NexPlus Seal Pure,’ we offer a packaging paper with a significantly reduced carbon footprint in comparison to conventional plastic packaging, not to mention that it also boasts the significant benefit of being recyclable and conserving valuable resources as a result.”
In similar news, Tesco introduced home-recyclable paper packaging last year for its luxury dried pasta range. The bags are said to be compatible with household recycling bins and the retailer hopes to save over 10 million pieces of plastic a year.
UPM Specialty Papers and Michelman partnered to create three paper-based solutions for brand owners, designed to replace multi-material, non-recyclable packaging. The structures are also designed to meet the owners’ food contact and recyclability requirements.
