On November 14th, this year’s Circular Valley Forum will take place in Wuppertal, Germany, under the motto ‘Action across Borders and Industries’, with 1,200 attendees expected from business, politics, science and society.

Figures from industry, SMEs and politics will take to the stage to discuss the obstacles and opportunities that arise along the value chains. The sessions will demonstrate how cooperation enables innovation, covering topics from metals and chemicals to construction, digitalization and energy.

International start-ups will be presenting new technologies that demonstrate how cycles can be closed in practice. The programme also includes confidential roundtable discussions that encourage the exchange of ideas on specific projects.

In September, Prevented Ocean Plastic and industry stakeholders including Innovia Films, Spectra Packaging, Bantam Materials UK Ltd and PETMAN, announced the ‘first ever’ food-safe polypropylene (PP) recycled to the European standard (EU 2022/1616). Early adopters include Innovia, who will produce BOPP flexible films, and Spectra, who will be blow moulding and injection moulding bottles and caps and further applications including trays for fruit, vegetables and protein.

The same month saw paper and board barrier solutions provider Subeco and biomaterials provider Paques unveil a strategic joint development plan to bring PHA-based barrier coatings to market.
