Hugo Beck, a world leading manufacturer of horizontal flowpack, film packaging and post-print processing machines, will be embracing the key theme of this year’s FachPack – ‘environmentally-friendly packaging’ – with a display of innovative machine concepts that demonstrate how effective packaging solutions can deliver sustainability benefits. In addition, the company’s stand (307, Hall 4A) will highlight the latest advances in digitisation and Industry 4.0.

As a packaging machinery specialist, Hugo Beck regards itself as a partner to both industry and the retail sector in the devising of more sustainable packaging solutions through innovation and further developments in machine technology. Visitors to the stand will be able to see how the company’s established reputation for the flexibility and efficiency of its machines can be utilised in the adoption of new pack types and materials that help to meet these increasingly important sustainability demands. Experts from the company will also be on hand to discuss specific customer requirements.

In the drive to minimise the use of plastic, Hugo Beck will highlight how material savings can be effectively combined with efficiency increases in the production of flowpacks, poly bags and shrink packs. The environmental profile of film packaging can be improved by making it as thin and light as possible without compromising the quality of its appearance or its protective properties. In particular, in association with packaging film specialist mopack, the company will highlight what has already been achieved in this area. This includes the world’s thinnest PVC-free polyolefin fine shrink film with only 7 µm, a film packaging solution that can deliver up to 70 % savings in film volume per pack.

Visitors can also find out about Hugo Beck's increasingly diverse automation solutions and gain an insight into the latest developments in packaging machines that support Industry 4.0. For example, easy-to-view machine performance data and the monitoring of production processes can contribute greatly to increased transparency in production. Another benefit is the avoidance of unplanned machine downtime through predictive maintenance. Hugo Beck’s standard digital solution can be adapted to individual customer needs.

Hugo Beck has been an exhibitor at FachPack since the show was first launched in 1979 and is delighted to be continuing its association in this anniversary year. “FachPack has always provided an excellent platform for the latest trends and developments in the packaging industry,” says Timo Kollmann, the company’s Sales Director. “This year we have the opportunity to demonstrate how our range of solutions can meet the need for increased sustainability while still delivering on the key requirements for effective packaging such as protection and preservation of products, as well as promotion at the point of sale.”
