Amcor is demonstrating its versatility in food packaging with ongoing developments across both injection moulding and thermoforming.

The company has recently enhanced its top-selling UniPak one-kilogram pot for the dairy market, reducing material usage while maintaining performance, robustness and line compatibility.

Compared to the company’s previous container of this size, the reduced weight can reportedly deliver an up to 9% reduction in carbon emissions based on anticipated production volume.

Made in PP, the pack can be recycled in countries with the appropriate infrastructure in place. The lightweight compression-moulded liquid-tight lid seeks to offer excellent top load strength and remains fastened to the pot, while improved tamper-evidence enhances product security.

To support brand differentiation, UniPak is available in multiple shapes and sizes with shared lid diameters across different formats to simplify inventory and supply chains.

Meanwhile, the Amcor thermoformed portfolio for dairy and other sectors like ready meals, has been developed with features such as recycle-ready designs, extended shelf-life and lightweight constructions, as well as high-quality decoration options.

The Amcor portfolio includes round cups, pots and multi-component trays, available with inserts and in different heights and shapes. An EVOH barrier can be incorporated for extended ambient shelf-life.

Another innovation is thermoformed in-mould labelling for tubs, where pre-printed labels are applied to a container during the thermoforming process, allowing intricate, multi-colored designs.
