Tackling the flexibles recycling challenge

2021-10-12T08:50:00+01:00

Flexible packaging is lightweight and offers good barrier properties. However,  currently only around 17% of flexible packaging is being collected and recycled in the EU. To address this problem, CEFLEX has developed a Quality Recycling Process (QRP) which sets out to capture the possibilities of existing technologies to drive the circular economy. Elisabeth Skoda speaks to CEFLEX’s Dana Mosora and Alec Walker-Love to find out more.

CEFLEX: Demand must be the driving force in a circular economy for flexibles

    2022-04-26T12:10:00Z

According to CEFLEX, a truly circular economy must be demand-driven. Following the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s call for a EUR 2 billion investment to increase recycling capacity fourfold by 2025, CEFLEX has worked backwards along the supply chain to clarify the scale of recycling, sorting, infrastructure, and collection needed to ensure demand for recycled materials as they re-enter the economy.
