Syntegon has released its GKF Capsylon 6005 capsule filling machine – designed to fill 360,000 nutraceutical capsules per hour, over double the capacity of its previous model – in Europe and the US.

This high-speed machine offers forty-eight segment bores rather than twenty-one and in four rows rather than two. As such, it is said to fill more capsule segments than the GKF Capsylon 3005’s 175,000 capsules per hour without increasing operation times.

Meanwhile, Syntegon’s patented slide-gate covers the segment bores from below during the filling process. Its precise movements reportedly increase product yield, lower dust impact with an overall higher filling accuracy, and enable pellets and granules to be processed on the same dosing station.

The GKF Capsylon 6005’s click system is also said to speed up format part changeover. As it does not require manual readjustment, the machine claims to process a wide range of different products on the same machine and save time, while its system aims for intuitive operation.

While it is already available in the Asian market, its North American launch is scheduled for October 2023. Attendees at SupplySide West in Las Vegas will be able to see the GKF Capsylon in operation, alongside Syntegon’s high-shear granulators, fluid bed systems, and capsule checkweighers in a complete production unit.

“We are seeing growing interest in products like vitamins, proteins, and other dietary supplements in the European and U.S. markets,” says Andreas Nuessle, product manager at Syntegon. “The GKF Capsylon 6005 combines a significantly higher output rate with the flexibility of the range to fill powders, pellets, granules, and even special products. This makes it suitable for a particularly wide range of applications.”

At interpack 2023, Syntegon displayed four new vertical form, fill, seal (VFFS) machines for various food applications, including one for pillow bags and another for packaging jellies for kitchen, processing, and depositing equipment.

Shemesh Automation exhibited its FGW-J buckets filling and dosing machine and auger filler, while ROTZINGER presented the FLK/VRM Filling & Capping machine, which combines the operations of a linear filler and rotative capper.
