Design firm and linen rental company Lola Valentina, based in Chicago, USA, has implemented the reusable packaging system developed by FedEx and Returnity to ship products within existing parcel workflows, integrated into the FedEx network.

The system aims to support managed, closed-loop shipping environments, including businesses with repeat-use shipping models, with Returnity and FedEx providing onboarding, training and support. Lola Valentina says that within the first six weeks of implementation, it expanded its programme with additional boxes due to growing demand.

The company states that the leasing model’s flexibility allowed it to quickly scale utilization without investing in its own reusable packaging. The packaging system seeks to address longstanding adoption barriers including cost, complexity and compatibility with traditional parcel networks.

“Scaling a brand like Lola Valentina requires infrastructure that supports both creativity and consistency,” said Valentina Fonseca Krug, CEO of Lola Valentina. “As we grow in the event rental market, having a reusable box solution allows us to reduce waste and make the shipping and return process much easier for our clients.”

Returnity recently announced that for a limited time, it is offering a free pilot programme for qualified B2B shippers operating repeatable distribution and replenishment flows, aiming to combat increasing prices for corrugated packaging. Companies that begin a pilot within 30 days and advance to broader deployment within 60 days of pilot completion will qualify for preferred reusable box leasing terms.

In similar news, online print shop Flyeralarm has collaborated with packaging return network Reuse.Me to bring approximately 1 million A4 shipping boxes into its closed loop system, aiming to keep the packaging in circulation several times before it is recycled. Through the joint project, the companies aim to encourage other companies to initiate their own change processes, highlighting the system’s integration into existing processes, scalability and measurable impact.
